Snow White Syndrome: This Year There Will Be Two Stories About One Grimm Brothers' Character

People were talking about screenwritimg crisis many times before. But this cinema year is called by some experts the year of remake and sequel. And there is some reasons for that. Two movies about Snow White are releasing in world during month of march.
But we should admit that they are two absolutely different movies. First Mirror Mirror is a comedy and second  by the title of  Snow White and Huntsman is actually thriller/action type as it stated.

Both pictures has budget of approximately $150m. Both pictures are remarkable with cast. And cast was full of stars. In Mirror Mirror it is Julia Roberts who acts as Queen and Lilly Collins for part of Snow White. The King acted by Sean Bean.

In second case we have Kristen Stewart as major protogonist, Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, Charlise Theron as Queen, Ian McShane as character called Beith and Lily Cole as someone by the name of Rose. Also it is known that part of Queen could be performed by Angelina Jolie and it is not first case when Theron takes character which could be performed by her. The same situation appeared during pre-production of Prometheus.
Mirror Mirror comes out at March, 15 (Russia, Hungary, Ukraine, Slovenia) and Snow White and Huntsman at March, 31 (Germany, Portugal, Argentina).
Reason why studios today prefer such a way of thinking is simple. They take 'already-ready' charachters and stories to overcome pre-production stage as fast as possible. because time is money. But in competition like that they have no way other but to aim their production to be as original as possible.

So this year we have a lot of sequels and remakes. And even most expected movies are so in this or other way. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (addition to Lord of the Rings saga), Prometheus (could be part of Alien series), John Carter (based on idea from 1930s), Avengers (collective sequel to Iron Man, Thor and others), The Dark Knight Rises (final Nolan's part of Batman trilogy), Skyfall (James Bond #23), Men in Black III.
