Alice in Wonderland is an archetypal story about travelling to fantasy worlds with features which can be seen in many other fairy tales and even in such sci-fi movie as Tron Legacy.
It all begins when lead character accidentally finds a way to go to another dimensions of the world. No matter is it rabbit-hole, hurricane, some neutron laser or just wardrobe. In both Disney 3D movies by Burton and Kosinski protagonist has grown up from kid to adult person. And now he or she is forced to believe in miracles again, returning condition of childhood. And she or he enters world of marvels inhabited by the most curious population, but somehow it happens that this world is ruled (or threatened) by some tyrannic usurper. The same things are also happening in Harry Potter series and in many others.
And then here appears some one beautiful and naive who makes us understand that this world can be even more fantastic and graceful. This someone helps lead character to destroy the evil in this world. And good always wins.
It will be not surprising if some one will attemp to reintroduce Alice's story with plot where everything happens in our days and Alice is happening to enter and shift Wonderland of virtual reality. Finally, no matter what, it still will be a story of coming back to fantasy worlds of childhood.
