Sherlock Holmes is a character who saw biggest quantity of movies and television series about himself mote than any other on both sides of Atlantic. Today in time when anything is duзlicated, when crisis of original sreenwriting  appears together with increasing of movie market, english detective proves his popularity having three faces at once. Which is unique situation even today.

There is two television series and films with Downey Jr. And looks like there us no correlation between budgets and quality of projects in everything. Though second movie by Guy Ritchie is undoubtedly better than first one, british television films are no doubt better. Sherlock series represent intresting and modern version, but here Holmes is still intelectual puzzlebreaker. Real Sherlock Holmes. Idea to make accent on that fact that Baker street detective is good boxer is not good one. It is not his top weapon.

Like any character Holmes can be described by his relations with friends, enemies and women.

His only friend is doctor Watson. In british series he is classical military doctor, but who has blog in web. In Ritchie's movie he is adventurous man, but more rational than Holmes and almost equal to him by importance. In american series doctor is woman. And someone who tries to get well with drugs addition of detective.

Relations wirh women are almost limited in all series, but there is, of course, the woman. Irene Adler. In british series she is femme fatale involved with secrets of high placed people. In movies her part is not so dramatis and ended in beginning of second film. She serves mostly to increase tension between Holmes and his major enemy. In american series she is the woman and the enemy at once.

And the enemy. Moriarty. If Holmes is consulting detective on good side than Moriarty is consulting villain on the other. In british series and in movies he is international terrorist but of different epochs. In american television series Adler is Moriarty.

I wouldn't say that watching any of this Sherlock versions was worthless to me they all have their advantages. And that is pleasing that no matter who produces Holmes film they have enough respect to produce quality made Sherlock Holmes movie.
