Despite his interview to Empire Sam Mendes now says he reached agreement with studio to film next bond movie.
Some monthes ago director claimed that his talks with the studio are only rumored. There also were rumours that other european directors may become chiefs for the crew of movie 24 of the franchise. May be Mendes was not able to find another more intresting work and before being in doubt handled this. May be studio was also seeing other alternatives, but being impressed by the success of Skyfall decided not to change the way it goes. Case bacomes unique for new century when the same director will film two bond movies in row. which didn't happen for decades in time.
